Challenged to a Frisbee-Football Tournament

This last Friday, our vigorous youth group was zealously challenged to a Frisbee-football tournament by an elderly group, the 'College an Career.' Undoubtedly, the youths were the underdogs, being dreadfully defeated in our last game by an close shave of one point. Now, we had to rise to the challenge as Tina persuaded both parties to clash together in this great tournament of epic proportions. This would be a fierce battle against fathers and sons, friends against friends, and co-worker against co-worker.
As cars rolled up to a large grassy dirt field, the suspense grew, mounting with each new comer's arrival. The sun lay hot and red on the smoky horizon, as sweat culminated on the foreheads of both the young and the old, as each took the field that would determine who has what it takes to come out the winner. Once all had assembled, the youth held a little advantage of four people, yet, the C'nC clung to their divine wisdom to counter the odds.
At First, the C'nC's masterfully scored point-by-point, and countered every attempt that we had put up, and skillfully swung around our defenses to land the touch-down. All looked a little hopeless in the way of the youth, seeming like history would repeat itself, but yet, we held our own. The score was 7 to 0, Suddenly the youth turn the tables and started coming back, the the "elders" were slowing! In the end it came down to one deciding point, it was 9 to 9, both feeling the toll of the game, and it was the youth's Frisbee. In a quick skillful move the youth maneuvered down the field and barely slid it in, THE YOUTH WON!!!

Helpful Tuesdays!!!

I found this video and i thought it was pretty cool. You can do so much with the iPad, like this...

In the book I'm reading "Trusting God" by Jerry Bridges, I just finished up the chapter "Knowing God's Love." I believe this has been one of the best chapters in the book so far. I found this section very convicting as Jerry starts by saying,

"A friend of mine who spends a good amount of time encouraging others found himself distraught over the spiritual struggles of one of his children. In desperation he cried out, 'God, I think I'm doing a better job taking care of Your children than You are of mine.' He told me, 'as soon as i said it I repented to the Lord.' Nevertheless, his frustration experience illustrates a point. most of us are tempted from time to time, to question God's love for us."

He goes on and talks about Job, who faced numerous calamities yet still said, "the Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised" (Job 1:21). it was interesting though that in Job 34:5,9, Job came to the place he questioned God's goodness. He said, "God denies me justice" and "It profits a man nothing when he tries to please God."

There is so many ways God's loves in all of scripture, but one of the most so is when he sent His only son, Jesus! John 3:16 is a clear place it tells us and also in 1 John 4:9-10, there are so many place to find God's love in the scripture! Jerry said this, " I ounce heard a speaker said, 'anything this side of hell is pure grace.'" I never really thought about it about it like, it really opened my eyes to how abundance God's grace was. Yet, because we are in Christ God looks on us with the same love he looked on his son Jesus. that is really good news!

Happy (late) Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day...

Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
"Many women have done excellently,
but you surpass them all."
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands,
and let her works praise her in the gates (Proverbs 31:28-31)

Happy Mother's Day everyone. ;)

Book Review

Over the past few weeks I have been reading the book "Trusting God" by Jerry Bridges. I just finished up a chapter entitled: God's Power Over Nature. The chapter really showed me that, first, God is not restrained by the physical laws of this earth( which he created). Also, That he can intervene when ever he wants and can break those laws if he chooses. Second, any natural disaster is apart of God's perfect plan and is all for His Glory. This is really encouraging, because, for me, I don't have to worry. I think it is harder to trust do than it is to obey him.
Today was the first day of V.B.S. practice!!! this VBS is going to be one of the most exciting drama, there are sooo many colorful characters in the drama, many hilarious seen , and best of all so many times of giving and sharing the, gospel. They really explain about what Jesus did on the cross, and how to become a child of God. I'm so excited for this years drama, I'll try to get it on video and then post it.

Remember tomorrow is Mother's Day!!
